Young actress, Frances Farmer has just been reprimanded for challenging the film business and society. Upon her sentencing, she has been released into her mother’s care. Her mother has just taken her to a “center” for rest. However, upon her arrival, she has just discovered the “center”is in fact, an institution. After learning the intentions of her mother’s placement for her; she challenges the psychiatrist whom is attempting to dehumanize her, and crush her spirit.
